Microsoft can't first say that it's good, and then years later change their mind and say that it's bad. The consumer's confirmation that a license is valid is through Microsoft's acceptance of the key. The seller distributing the key to multiple users was wrong, but Microsoft's actions are equally as wrong and potentially illegal. The Supervisor disagreed and gave me no option other than to buy another license. What MS is doing here is illegal - first validating the key, then killing it when it's too late to have reasonable recourse with the vendor (who recently told me to take a hike.) I made this statement to a Supervisor in the Volume Licensing Department, said that I shouldn't have to suffer for Microsoft's licensing activation deficiencies, and stated that they owed me a new complimentary key. MS now reports that the vendor illegally sold the key to more than 300 people and now that key is locked it out for everybody.
It worked seamlessly until December 2015 when Windows 10 upgrade performed a product key check and came up with the key now being invalid. I purchased Office 2010 from a vendor in April 2014 and Microsoft allowed me to activate it. I encountered the same issue - an invalid Office 2010 key after upgrade to Windows 10.
